A note about Hurricane Ian: Firstly, thank you to all of our clients, friends and work colleagues from across the country and overseas that have reached out over the past week to offer concern and support. We are heartbroken to see the devastation in areas of southwest Florida, and a good amount of our time is being spent sending supplies and resources to help the relief efforts. We will continue to help as our southern neighbors rebuild their homes and lives. We are so grateful for the emergency response teams who are working tirelessly to get power and basic supplies to those in need.

Real estate predictions from the outset of 2022 are confirmed by the latest market statistics: the local real estate market has reached its peak and is now leveling out at a steady rate. Home sales remain robust and homes that are priced in line with the market sell quickly, however, there are more opportunities for buyers as inventory increases. All reassuring signs that we can finally enjoy more “normal” market conditions not seen since 2019. Buyers who are waiting in the wings for prices to drop are likely going to be disappointed. We are not expecting a significant downturn but more of a leveling out of prices. Sellers who plan to make a move in the next 12 months should do so sooner rather than later to capitalize on steady demand as buyers look to lock in mortgage rates.

I had the pleasure of attending the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Luxury Summit Convention in Boston last week. Apart from the invaluable opportunity to promote the Sarasota area to other successful agents from across the country and overseas and to participate in open table “mastermind” sessions with other top agents, I had the pleasure of hearing an incredible keynote speech by Dr. Hakeen Oluseyi, astrophysicist and global educator. His journey from the ghettos of America to Stanford University and NASA is a mindblowing mix of circumstance, setbacks, mistakes, perseverance and determination. I am currently listening to his book “A Quantum Life: My Unlikely Journey from the Streets to the Stars” – truly inspiring!
