The one question I am being asked lately is “how long is this going to last?” Well, in the absence of a crystal ball I can’t say for sure, but one thing is clear; the current sellers market is being driven purely by supply and demand. Inventory is low, demand is high, and projected to get higher as more and more people choose to move to Florida for tax purposes, quality of life goals or work from home possibilities. Sarasota is now firmly on the map and every homeowner is seeing an exponential benefit in terms of home values. People are aware that their nest egg has become much more valuable in the past year and in theory now would be a great time to sell. But if you sell your house, where are you going to go? If you sell high you will be buying high. Another consideration is the impact that of the return of Europeans will have after November 8th. This lucrative subsection of the Florida market has been unable to enter the US for 20 months. Our hope for the coming season is that we will see more existing homes come onto the market, and that, in addition, supply issues blighting the construction industry will ease, allowing national and regional homebuilders to get back on track with the supply of new construction homes.
