On the northwest tip of Siesta Key lies perhaps the best waterfront real estate in all of Sarasota. The subdivisions of Siesta Rev, Bayou Louise and Gulfmead, and Roberts Point, are home to some of the most spectacularly located lots, with Gulf-front and sailboat water canals that offer direct, yet sheltered access to both the Gulf of Mexico and Sarasota bay.

The area is perfect for those with larger boats, as even the Bayou Louise canal north of the Siesta Drive Bridge is deep enough for sailboats. Getting out to the Gulf is just a short trip down the canal directly to Big Pass.

While the homes along the north edge of Siesta Key enjoy the lion's share of the bay and gulf views, the homes further inland are backed by beautiful saltwater canals and nestled into lush, established tropical landscaping.

This amazing neighborhood began it's legacy in 1911 at what is now called Bayou Louise when the canal was dredged making the land on either side perfect for waterfront development. Near the completion of the dredging in 1912 a developer called the Gulf Bay Land Company began the development of the area they renamed “Siesta Key On The Gulf”. The Gulf Bay Land Company also opened up Hansen bayou to Big Pass and built roads and sidewalks in on the key.

With, amazing views, convenient land and water access, and a close proximity to all of Sarasota's hot spots, homes in Siesta Rev, Gulfmead and Bayou Louise command top pricing. It is not uncommon for some of the palatial Gulf-front homes to be priced near 10 million, however many of the canal front homes are a comparative bargain in the 2 millions. Shockingly there are even a small amount of older ranch style homes that come on the market from time to time at $500,000 or less – often the perfect situation for those looking to build their Siesta Key dream home.

While the entire area northwest of Siesta Drive is exceptional real estate within that neighborhood there are some jewels that shine brighter than others.

Bayou Louise and Gulfmead are the cream of the crop, and comprise the very northwest tip of Siesta Key. All homes on Gulfmead are either on the Gulf overlooking Big Pass, or on a deepwater canal with immediate access to Big Pass. Homes on Bayou Louise are even more spectacular with many directly on the Gulf and backing up to the canal.

Bayou Louise homes however are south of the Siesta drive bridge so sailboats are not an option, but smaller watercraft has no problem getting out to the Gulf with the short trip down the canal to Big Pass.

Roberts Point is bayside, and is a slender peninsula that juts out into Roberts bay on the east side and Cocoanut Bayou on the west. Large estate homes line both that bayside and canal-side. Residents of Roberts point are equally well located, being just off of Higel Avenue and with direct water access to Roberts and Sarasota Bay just south of the Siesta Drive draw bridge.
