The northernmost of the beautiful barrier islands that line the gulf shores of Florida's suncoast, Anna Maria Island juts into the Gulf of Mexico and the mouth of Tampa Bay.
Of all the suncoast islands Anna Maria offers more direct water access to different areas than an other. Boaters on Anna Maria Island have near direct access to Tampa Bay, the Manatee River, the Gulf of Mexico, Palma Sola Bay and Sarasota Bay. The miles of navigable saltwater canals are lined with hundreds of beautiful waterfront homes and condos. The homes that line the northeast corner of the island in Anna Maria have possible the best views in the entire suncoast, the sweeping vista of azure water that stretches from the entrance to Tampa Bay in the northeast to the gulf of Mexico in the northwest. Because Anna Maria is nearly in open water, water generally stays more blue and is less influenced by the green water of Sarasota bay.
Anna Maria Island though relatively small is home to three cities including, Anna Maria in the north, Holmes Beach in the central area and Bradenton Beach further south.
Anna Maria island is also perhaps the most lively of the suncoast islands, drawing vacationers from around the country and year rounders from the mainland alike. The many beach-side restaurants are nightlife hot spots for beach-goers and the large variety of shops and public beaches keep Anna Maria an active destination year-round. Of all of the suncoast islands, Anna Maria Island is perhaps host to the largest range in real estate prices. Everything from entry-level condominiums starting in the 100s up to exquisite beachfront estates in the multimillion dollar range is available. Even in this established and densely populated island the opportunity to build your waterfront dream home still exists. Bimini Cove at Villa Rosa Way is one such opportunity. An enclave of fourteen waterfront homesites on the north east of the islands offers an amazing opportunity.
A family-friendly place, Anna Maria Island has seven and a half miles of gorgeous white sandy beaches stretching from Tampa Bay to Longboat Key rivaling any in the world. World-class fishing is available for both deep-sea and inshore anglers. And even golfing is available at the Key Royal Golf Club.
Whether you intend to by a new home on Anna Maria Island or not it is always worth a trip.
Anna Maria Island has two zip codes including 34216 and 34217
