According to a recent report compiled by a national real estate firm, Sarasota ranks 19th in the entire nation for the number of luxury listings. Sarasota County currently has 364 luxury listings ($1m+) on the market. Around 40 percent of high net worth millenials surveyed feel that investing in real estate is a safer bet than the stock market. Aside from the obvious draw of sun, sea and winter warmth, low taxes and improved accessibility continue to draw luxury homebuyers to Florida; in fact, 7 out of 20 of the top cities for luxury real estate are in Florida.
The table below outlines how the $1m+ market for single family homes in Sarasota has fared in the past 8 years:
The next best thing to living on the water? Friends who live on the water!
I genuinely love what I do, but there are some deals that are sweeter than others. My best friends here in Sarasota have just closed on this fabulous waterfront home. The house suits the needs of their growing children and will perfectly fit their love of fishing/kayaking/diving/all things boating. Best of all, I get to hang out here on weekends! Congratulations Wendy and Jim!!!!!
Murray Brings New Style To The
Tour Of Homes In Lakewood Ranch
Murray Homes was featured in the real estate section of the HeraldTribune.com for bringing a fresh, innovative style to home designs in Lakewood Ranch. During the interview Harold Bubil of the Sarasota Herald Tribune and recipient of the 2015 Bob Graham Architectural Awareness Award, noted that while many homes in Lakewood Ranch are still the Tuscan-Mediterranean design, Murray Homes is “bucking the trend” by bringing Coastal Contemporary to east of 75.
Steve Murray stated the waterfront luxury home builder was approached by developers in Lakewood Ranch looking to offer a new experience for home buyers.
Staysail Court, a new enclave of custom homes inspired by the America's Cup and featuring the innovative design blend of the clean lines of modern architecture with elegant British West Indies style as only Murray Homes can do, is the result.

Real Estate Market Update
September Market Update:
September is typically one of the slowest months for real estate activity and this September the total number of sales dipped below 1,000 for the first time in 6 months. Inventory is up marginally from last month, and the median price for single family homes was 18 percent higher than September 2014 at $223,500. Median Condo prices dropped slightly from $195,000 to $192,500.
The president of the Realtors Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) noted “We continue to see sales number at or near record levels, and the price rise in the single family market obviously has not scared away buyers. The affordability of local properties remains at a much better level now than during the boom years of 2004-2006, as interest rates remain very favorable for buyers.”
